Introducing our new application process for car clubs

2 December 2025

Across Wales, more communities are exploring car clubs as a practical, affordable and sustainable alternative to private car ownership.

If you’re one of the growing number of people wondering how to bring a TrydaNi Car Club to your town, our new application process is designed to help you do exactly that.

A TrydaNi car club is built around a simple idea: local members share one or more electric vehicles, parked and charged at a designated Home Location.

Members book the EV via the TrydaNi app, and our team looks after the vehicles, insurance, electricity, and all operational costs.

For communities, it offers an affordable transport option without the burden of car ownership—and for Wales, it supports a cleaner, more sustainable transport system.

To make it easier for communities to get started, we’ve introduced a structured application process led by a local “Establishing Coordinator”. This is the person who completes the application form and acts as the main point of contact as the club gets set up.

Applicants often represent a local “Community Partner” organisation—such as a town council or social enterprise—but individuals are welcome to apply too.

The online application form (and the accompanying guidance notes) guides you through everything we need to assess whether a club will be viable in your area: your proposed Home Location, evidence of community interest, potential social benefits. You can also tell us about any supporting applicants who may become “Community Champions– members who help with simple tasks like cleaning, promotional work, or monthly vehicle checks, and receive driving credits in return.

The first application round closes 15 January 2026, with successful communities notified by 4 February.

Vehicles will be deployed from 1 March.

(Further application rounds will likely take place later, with dates to be confirmed).

If you're ready to take the next step, access the form, explore the guidance, and get in touch with any questions—we’re here to help you establish a TrydaNi car club in your community.
