Introducing our new pricing

Today we are pleased to announce a reduction in prices for using TrydaNi car clubs.

A key part of our mission is to deliver an affordable service. Although our previous pricing was competitive compared to conventional car hire, feedback from our members was clear: using a car club needs to be cheaper to help shift day-to-day usage of privately-owned vehicles.

The new prices are as follows:

• £2/hour (previously £3), capped at £30 

• 16p/mile for the first 100 miles

• No more booking fee!

The easiest way to understand how the new prices work in practice is to use our new price calculator. 

To decide on the new prices we spoke to lots of our members (thank you to all who participated) and we also conducted some wider research with a random sample of 750 people to understand public attitudes to car clubs. We considered changing the pricing structure to a flat hourly rate, and asked people to suggest what they felt was a fair price for a typical two hour journey. 

We found that approximately 1 in 5 people in Wales are interested in accessing a shared vehicle, and that a clear majority preferred us to stick with a more flexible structure that blends hourly and per-mile fees (so that it remains affordable to leave the car parked for longer periods).

As a non-profit organisation, any additional revenue that we generate can be reinvested into improving our service. We’re pleased that we’ve been able to listen to feedback and reduce prices so that we have a solid foundation for future growth. 

We’re now moving on to improve other aspects of our service, in particular working with our European cooperative technology partner to make improvements to the joining and booking process. We’re also moving ahead with plans to expand our network into other towns across Wales.
