TrydaNi takes a look in the 2025 rearview mirror.
17 December 2025
As 2025 draws to a close, it feels right to pause and reflect on a year that has been nothing short of transformative for TrydaNi. What began as a modest community project in the 1990s (long predating online booking systems) has now grown to 15 electric vehicles across Wales that are accessed with a smartphone. And we had close to 2,000 bookings this year alone!
Let’s take a look at 2025:
Our team has grown
We have effectively doubled the size of our team this year as we continue expanding our network of vehicles.
Tom Simone is our new Chief Community Officer, building partnerships and connections across Wales, but particularly in the North alongside our new coordinator Hannah Mefin in Bethesda (who joins existing coordinators Sarah and Barbara). Tess Cartwright has joined to lead our digital marketing efforts and ensure that we keep things smooth for members with new help content and videos.
Check out the full team and their backgrounds here.
Our membership has grown
We’re delighted to have welcomed over 200 new members in 2025. That growth reflects what more and more people are realising: that sharing a vehicle is often cheaper and more convenient than the rising costs and stresses of private car ownership. To everyone who joined us this year, and to those who’ve been part of this movement since the early days: Thank you! Your trust, your bookings, your messages, your ideas are what it’s all about.
We dropped our prices
We surveyed our members about pricing and listened to their feedback. So in July, we dropped our prices to the lower, more affordable £2/hr (capped at £30) and 16p/mile for the first 100 miles. We also developed a fancy price calculator to make it easy to understand the cost of using TrydaNi.
We joined EV Rally Cymru (and nearly won!)
2025 also saw TrydaNi take part in EV Rally Cymru. An initiative that set out to demonstrate the EV charging infrastructure across Wales and showcasing efficient driving and how to get an impressive range out of EVs.
We partnered with Transport for Wales and over two days drove from Wrexham to Newport and stopped at various locations along the way chatting with people about EVs and their benefits. Unfortunately we didn’t come first, despite being on the same team as the world record holder for efficient EV driving!
Usage is going up
We’ve had a 234% increase in bookings and 158% increase in miles since January 2025. TrydaNi cars are being driven, trusted, needed and increasingly woven into people’s everyday routines.
As we pat ourselves on the back and take this mid-winter break with our loved ones we will also be looking towards what’s next. This is what we aim towards in 2026:
Application Process for New Clubs
Our new club application system is live! After the 15th January deadline we’ll begin reviewing submissions and look forward to welcoming more communities into the TrydaNi network.
Quick Start Videos
We’ll also be launching short help videos to make joining a club a smoother process, helping people get on the road faster and more confidently. There will be a video for each car, so you can hop in and watch a video and get all the info you need to know to drive away. The ongoing support in our local WhatsApp groups and from our Car Club Coordinators will always be there too..
Recruiting more Community Champions
We’re looking for more members who want to get involved as a Community Champion, and take up the opportunity to earn driving credits for keeping our cars tidy and safe. Please have a look here to see what it entails and get in touch if you’re interested.
As we reflect on a year of hard work and over 90,000 miles driven in TrydaNi cars, we’re grateful to our members for choosing shared transport, for supporting each other in our WhatsApp groups and for helping us to cultivate a different future for transport in Wales. Wishing you a Merry Christmas, a peaceful winter season and a bright start to 2026.
